How Gregory Group handles it.
A roof claim is decided by what gets written down. The adjuster walks the roof once, records what they see, and the carrier pays against that scope. A homeowner who has never been through a claim is at a disadvantage in that process.
Help starts with a free inspection. If there is storm damage on your roof, the photographs and report from that inspection show it, and we can give you our opinion on filing a claim.
How It Works
Inspect
Using a checklist, a trained inspector goes over the critical areas inside and out to find the source of the problem.
Educate
You get a list of any damage with photographs, a plain explanation of what needs repairing or replacing, and answers to your questions.
Perform
The same person who inspected your roof sits down with you to go over the damage and your options, including pricing and payment plans. The work then runs with a project manager on site and a magnet sweep and cleanup at the end.
The Difference
The details that decide the outcome.
When a claim does make sense, the steps are consistent. You report the damage to your carrier and get a claim number. The carrier sends an adjuster. We can be on the roof at that appointment to point out the damage and make sure the photographs match what the adjuster records.
Sometimes a claim is denied on grounds that do not hold up on the roof. We have documented every impact on a denied roof, sent the evidence back to the carrier with an explanation of why the damage was storm-related, and seen a supervisor re-inspect the roof and approve the replacement. That will not happen on every denied claim, but a claim should be decided on the damage that is there.
Your deductible is yours to pay, and any contractor offering to cover or waive it is asking you to break Texas law. Payment plans are available for the portion of a job insurance does not cover.
Once a claim is approved, the replacement or repair runs like any other job, with the old roof torn off to the decking and a project manager on site. It is also a good time to price impact-resistant shingles, since some carriers reduce premiums for a Class 4 roof and the difference in material cost is small compared with the whole job.

Insurance Claims, answered.
Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?
Have the roof inspected first. It is free, you get photographs of any storm damage, and we can give you our opinion on filing before you call your insurer.
Can you waive or pay my deductible?
No. Texas law requires homeowners to pay their deductible, and a contractor who offers to absorb it is breaking that law. Payment plans can help with the portion you owe.
Will you meet with the adjuster?
Yes, if you would like us there. Being on the roof during the appointment means the damage in our photographs gets pointed out while the adjuster is looking at it.
My claim was denied. Is there anything I can do?
Often, yes. Ask the carrier for a re-inspection and give them documented evidence of the damage. We have had denied roof claims overturned this way.
Will filing a claim raise my premium?
That depends on your carrier and your claims history. Weather claims are treated differently from other claims by many insurers, but ask your agent directly before you file.
