Repair

How Gregory Group handles it.

Most roofs that call attention to themselves do not need replacing. A few shingles lifted by a windstorm, a vent cap cracked by hail, a pipe boot that has dried out in the Texas sun or flashing that has pulled away from a wall can each let water in, and each can be fixed without touching the rest of the roof.

Not every roof needs a full replacement. If a targeted repair will stop the leak and give the roof more years, that is what we recommend. Roofs are expensive, and a homeowner who is told they need a new one should be able to trust that the advice is about the roof.

How It Works

01

Inspect

Using a checklist, a trained inspector goes over the critical areas inside and out to find the source of the problem.

02

Educate

You get a list of any damage with photographs, a plain explanation of what needs repairing or replacing, and answers to your questions.

03

Perform

The same person who inspected your roof sits down with you to go over the damage and your options, including pricing and payment plans. The work then runs with a project manager on site and a magnet sweep and cleanup at the end.

The Difference

The details that decide the outcome.

A repair visit starts the same way an inspection does: someone gets on the roof and finds the cause. Water travels along decking and rafters before it shows on a ceiling, so a stain in the hallway is often fed by a problem several feet uphill. Finding the source first is what keeps a repair from being a patch over the symptom.

The fixes themselves cover the common failures on North Texas roofs. Wind-lifted or missing shingles are replaced and sealed down. Damaged roof vents and turbine caps are swapped out. Pipe boots that have cracked around plumbing stacks are replaced. Loose or missing flashing at walls, chimneys and skylights is reset properly. Nail pops that have pushed up through shingles are driven and sealed, and exposed nail heads on ridge caps are covered.

Where a repair would not hold, we will say so plainly and explain why. An older roof with brittle shingles can crack around every repair you make to it, and hail damage spread across a whole slope may be an insurance question rather than a repair. Either way you get photographs of what was found and a clear description of the options, so the decision is yours.

Steep roofs are part of the work. A high-pitched two-story roof with a lot of valleys is exactly the kind a homeowner should not be climbing, and it is often where a repair is most needed, because water moves fast down a steep valley and finds any gap.

Repairs also come up before a home is listed. A buyer’s inspection that flags a roof issue can hold up a closing, and a repair made ahead of time, documented with photographs, keeps that conversation short.

Before You Call

Repair, answered.

How do I know whether my roof needs a repair or a replacement?

Age, how widespread the damage is and the condition of the shingles around it decide it. Isolated wind or vent damage on a sound roof is a repair. Brittle shingles, damage across whole slopes or repeated leaks in different places usually point to replacement. Book the free inspection and you will get photographs and a recommendation.

How much does a roof repair cost?

Small repairs such as a few shingles or a vent are a fraction of a replacement. The price depends on what failed, how steep the roof is and whether damaged decking is found underneath. You get the price before the work.

Can you match my existing shingles?

Usually closely. Shingle lines change color over time and older roofs weather, so a repair on an older roof may be visible up close. We will tell you before the repair if the match will not be exact.

Will a repair void my shingle warranty?

A repair done correctly with compatible materials should not. If your roof is still under a manufacturer or installer warranty, tell us who installed it, because the original installer may need to be involved.

Do you repair roofs after windstorms?

Yes. Shingles lifted or torn off by wind are one of the most common repairs we do. If wind has opened the roof and rain is on the way, call (214) 354-6753 for emergency service.
